Eric's Get Well Bulletin Board

Here's to a speedy recovery from and an old blues fan.  Last saw you at the 2nd, and last Westport Blues Festival.  The bottle of Nouveau in the picture of you in your back yard was purchased at the store I worked at.  Take care of yourself.

John

I am an old friend of Kay's from the upper peninsula. She taught me guitar. I knew she had married Eric at some point, but lost track of her. Best wishes for a comfortable recovery. Cibset

Sad to hear of your detour of life to the hospital. Wishing you a short stay. We miss the Old Henniker Days except for Barn Burnings. I think that was the last time we drank a bottle of Grand Mariner in one sitting before the sun came up and we could see and smell the charred remains of the New Barn.
I hope to hear soon you are back home
 All the Best, Peter Pub

Eric....cleaning my desk, and I happen upon a 1990 invite to a reception at the New England College Gallery...Seems you were going to discuss the Art of Harold Von Schmidt.......Anyway, googled you to see what you were up to, and read about your taking ill............Its Hank here, from the Viet Nam vets trip back in the 80s. The wonderful second bus crew. Hopefully you still remember the "cast'.....The guys who designed the trip, the two gals that ran out of money in Cambodia, the NBC reporter and his camera man...the gentleman Australian (pervert I think), you, myself and maybe one or two others.........songs, Heineken, listening to the mess that was happening in the bus in front of us...and a wonderful host country......
How time has flown by...I still have the prints you so kindly gave me of your work......Do find your way back to health, and know that I'm pulling for you...........you friend from the past, Hank, out in Washington, state....

Hey. Eric. Magnificent work, though way different from the stuff you used to do for us at Houghton Mifflin. Are those books still in print, I wonder. And are you still "in print" after all you've apparently been through? I have wonderful memories of you--performing at the Club 47, singing for the powers that be at HMCo (flipflops on the feet and all!), drinking rum which I also loved(REAL rum, not Captain Morgan etc.), playing nose to nose with Rev. Gary Davis. I last saw you when I worked for Davies and Wolfe, AIA, on Brattle Street (I believe) where you had a studio. Forty years ago or more. I hope that even if you're not still singing you're still playing. And it's clear from this web site you're still painting. Kit Dalton Martinez, California

I recently visited the Little Bighorn Battlefield. While standing near the monument I found an exhibit that showed your painting depicting Custer’s Last Stand. It was the first time I saw your painting and I was completely in awe of it. I’d never seen anything like it and I believe it’s the best painting about the Little Bighorn. So, when I got home I had to try and find more information about the artist. Lo and behold, I found this exceptional website. I never could’ve dreamed how much of your life you put into this painting. It was during this visit to your website that I found the news about your stroke, but I’m relieved to learn you are doing better. I’m thankful I can communicate with you in this fashion. Please get well soon, Mr. Von Schmidt. Thomas Reed

Your music and art crosses over generations. I'm a young person who recently discovered your music with "Living on the Trail" a fantastic cd. Wish more of your old albums were released on cd. Please understand that there are countless people like me that are praying for your recovery. God Bless you Eric. All my best, Derek B.
